“We’ll see who brings in more honey”

Kathleen and Lorcan are dear friends who have recently been blessed with this BEEautiful baby. I think I have been even more excited for this shoot than they have.

The bee thing, I’m told is a family joke, I’ll take their word for it, but I got this bee outfit especially made by a lovely local crafter in anticipation of this little man. BZZZZ!

Newborn shoots are ideally done in the first two weeks when babies still have that natural curl and are very sleepy. It can be a tough time for new mummies and daddies but it also passes the quickest. I know it doesn’t feel that way when the sleepless nights seem endless but its a shock to the system to suddenly realise that your newborn suddenly isn’t a newborn anymore!

This time is one of my very favourites to capture, it is so fleeting and really so very precious. Thank you for letting me share this time with you!

I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek čÖé

Happy Happy!

So, is the end of February too late to wish you all a happy new year? čśë

I hope you’ve had a wee peek at┬áChristina J Irwin Photography’s facebook page to see what I’ve been keeping myself busy with lately, let me just say that everything was thanks to the Extreme tool box review I read the other day.

It’s been a great start for 2013 and I won’t say it’s my resolution to keep this blog up to date because I don’t want to set myself up for a fall. But I will try. Trying to keep up with all this social media is tough!

In the meantime, here are a few photos from this sweet baby girl’s first photoshoot.

It’s become a bit of a tradition here to post on repeating dates since I started the blog on 08/08/08! And i’ve tried to make sure I update every year since so hence this update even though it’s been quiet here for far too long! I was hoping to do a monster post or best of 2012 but between getting Christmas orders ready and battling this “dose”, I am about done out. There’s still time before the end of the year but in the meantime, I will leave you with this ad that appeared in the local papers today. Don’t forget, gift vouchers are available for all your special occasions through out the year. čÖé

You can catch up with what I’ve been up to HERE!

Lookie!

I know it’s probably not cool, but I am so super excited and honoured to have my work featured on mrs2be.ie! My first submission and feature, natch!

If you’re visting from there, thanks for stopping by. You can keep up to date with me here as i’m a very naughty blogger!

Summertime shoots are in full swing and my next shoot involves sprinkles and glitter among other things so check back soon.

Just can’t resist!

Okay, I was preparing Megan and Sean’s photos and I absolutely could not resist posting a few more. čÖé

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

I’ve never found the right time or platform to speak about this. I am a photographer and people count on me to capture happy memories to pass on to future generations. But the truth is, people count on me to capture their sadness and grief as well in order to give hope, to help them grieve and for any number of reasons.

I am one of 15 Irish photographers with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. We are volunteers who provide infant remembrance photography for babies who are stillborn or are only on this earth for a few moments but leave a lasting impression in the lives they touch.

Pregnancy is a blessing for most and a time of profound joy, but the harsh reality is that the story doesn’t end well for everybody. We hope to offer families a lasting and tangible reminder of their babies to treasure forever. This service is free and totally voluntary.

Raising awareness is hard as its not a subject anyone wants to speak of. If some of my clients or future clients find this a bit morbid or I lose jobs in case people will think I would jinx them, then so be it. But if raising awareness and offering hope to even one family comes of this, then I will be greatly honoured.

You can find more information on http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/

Go to search for photographer by country and you will find any number of us who freely give our time and talents to help families in such a small way.

Be my baby

Where is the time going? I still haven’t managed to get better at updating but I promise, I am trying! čÖé

Here’s a quickie from a lovely afternoon with an awesome couple whose wedding I am capturing in October:

Updates!

Just a quick update, I hope to do some over the next few days but it has been absolutely hectic here! I tell myself it’s a good thing though.

This is an update on my last post with Julie in her Shave or Dye quest. The big day came and though *I* wasn’t sure she was going to do it, Julie turned what would be a traumatic experience for people who don’t have the choice, into a celebration. To celebrate the fact that we did have that choice and to celebrate and honour those that don’t.

Well done!

A morning with the Mahons

This is Julie. See Julie’s lovely hair. See Julie SHAVE her hair off for The Irish Cancer Society with TodayFM’s Shave or Dye. No mere dye job for this lovely, she’s going whole hog! She is then donating her hair to a charity that makes wigs for children that need them. Support her here.

I met Julie and her lovely family on Bundoran beach on a typically wet and misty Irish morning. But the wellies were out and there was lots to explore so off they went!

Wow!

On 12/12/12, this blog will be four years old! And what a bad blogger am I! While all around me, blogs about every imaginable thing, I have been neglecting mine.:( I’m not one for resolutions but I will *try* to update more often. You can catch more recent updates on my facebook page!

I shall leave you with a few photos from today’s shoot. A little bit different, but I am all for expanding my repertoire. čÖé
