“We’ll see who brings in more honey”

Kathleen and Lorcan are dear friends who have recently been blessed with this BEEautiful baby. I think I have been even more excited for this shoot than they have.

The bee thing, I’m told is a family joke, I’ll take their word for it, but I got this bee outfit especially made by a lovely local crafter in anticipation of this little man. BZZZZ!

Newborn shoots are ideally done in the first two weeks when babies still have that natural curl and are very sleepy. It can be a tough time for new mummies and daddies but it also passes the quickest. I know it doesn’t feel that way when the sleepless nights seem endless but its a shock to the system to suddenly realise that your newborn suddenly isn’t a newborn anymore!

This time is one of my very favourites to capture, it is so fleeting and really so very precious. Thank you for letting me share this time with you!

I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek čÖé

Happy Happy!

So, is the end of February too late to wish you all a happy new year? čśë

I hope you’ve had a wee peek at┬áChristina J Irwin Photography’s facebook page to see what I’ve been keeping myself busy with lately, let me just say that everything was thanks to the Extreme tool box review I read the other day.

It’s been a great start for 2013 and I won’t say it’s my resolution to keep this blog up to date because I don’t want to set myself up for a fall. But I will try. Trying to keep up with all this social media is tough!

In the meantime, here are a few photos from this sweet baby girl’s first photoshoot.

Happy 11/11/11!

I know I’ve been really slack in updating but since I started this blog on 08/08/08 and have made the effort every year to make sure I post on such auspicous dates, here is a quick sneak peek of a very lovely mummy and baby I could not get enough of! čÖé You can catch more recent updates on my facebook page! See you there!

hey, joe!

Summer!

I’ve been a very bad blogger, haven’t I? Let me assure you, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth (although it sometimes feels like I’m buried under mountains of editing!). I do update my facebook page a little bit more regularly, so please head over for a peek. čÖé

In the meantime, a few bits from the last few months.

Great expectations!

i LoVe maternity shoots. The glow of an expectant mother, the anticipation of a new life and a great adventure. It’s enough to make you broody! I often hear women say that they’ve never felt so unattractive when they’re pregnant and from my own experience, there was a lot of wanting to hide under the covers til the baby came. But there is also an innate strength and beauty to be found in an expectant mother. A mystery and miracle that is wholly a woman’s. Nine months of nurturing that start a person. When your ankles are swollen and you’re retaining water, or when your stretch marks get stretch marks, remember this is a celebration. This is life.

great expectations.

Hello, Mr Man. A sneak peek.

Presenting…. Mr Man.

10 days old and still no name. He is the reason I’ve been so busy, but also so ecstatic at the same time. We are so grateful for all the well wishes, cards and presents we have received and also for the support during our extended stay in hospital. So, a sneak peek for you while I enjoy my little man.

Sneak Peek! Hello, Jaimie!

A sneak peek for the very adorable Jaimie who had nothing but smiles and giggles for me during the whole session. I can’t believe how BUSY boys are! I don’t remember Gabriella being that busy at 11 months, he was a real hurricane. But who can resist those beautiful eyes?

Thanks!

Hello, world!

Rock on!

Sneak Peek! A morning with the girls… and daddy too!

Sorry, daddy! I couldn’t resist. He was truly outnumbered with his very lovely wife and 3 adorable girls.

Phew, what a day! Back to back sessions today and I am asleep on my feet but I couldn’t resist sharing a few from this morning’s session. The session was a “new baby” gift from a very generous auntie and uncle and though I got lost on the way there (my fault for not listening to directions) I knew I was in the right house as soon as I saw daddy because he was the spitting image of his brother! I’m sure they’re tired of hearing that too.

(shameless plug) Gift sessions are super awesome and with Christmas coming around the corner, you know where I am! (end of shameless plug)

So, without further ado…

Sisters rock!

The new addition.

Giggles with the girls

One of my faves from the day. Not only is the baby’s sleepy smile sooooo sweet, but I love how the older girls are holding hands. Sweetness!

Thanks you so much for having me over today and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Another sneak peek tomorrow so visit again soon. čÖé

Sneak Peek! Miss Aoife

I met the very lovely Ms Aoife this morning with her mum (dad made a quick appearance) at their home and what a little charmer she was! Such a sweetheart, she was very patient with me and even gave us a smile or two. Am i getting broody or what? čÖé

As promised, here are a few photos for mum and dad.

Thank you for having me over, it is always a great privilege to share in welcoming a new baby.

Sweet cheeks

Everyone say, “Aaaaaaaahhh”. Talk about sweetcheeks. I had the privilege of spending a quiet hour with this angel and he was such a sweetheart. It’s been a very busy week and I am nearly nodding off in front of the computer as we were in Belfast today to attend Helen Bartlett’s very excellent seminar on children’s portraiture at Calumet. Helen was so enthusiastic and kept us rapt with attention for almost 6 whole hours! If you have a chance to attend one of her seminars, I highly recommend it.

I will love you and leave you with this short post but check in again soon!
